Countdown to Travel

by jfriesen

It is Wednesday, May 31 and we leave on Saturday, June 3rd. All week what has been on my mind is completing what needs to be done before we leave for so long (5 weeks).

  • I got my hair cut last week.
  • I have been shopping and picking up gifts for people we will visit over the last week or so.Steve in a hatJanie in a hat.

On Saturday Steve and I went to buy hats to protect us from the sun. What do you think?

  • Today I made an appointment for the dog to be groomed and Sarah, who will be housesitting is coming over for instructions.
  • Every day I have been weeding the garden. I know that the weeds will grow back before we return, but at least they won’t be so bad.
  • I have also been making a list of things that I don’t want to forget to pack.
  • Oh yeah, and I have been meaning to do the laundry, but every day it looks like it will rain, so I put it off until the next day.
  • Today I took some time to look at the winning Cyberfair entry (http://www.muirlibraryk12.net/index.html) of one of the classes that will be following the trip. You might like it too!
  • Only 2 1/2 days to go!

Traveling to Greece

by jfriesen

picture of a rocketI must be one of the luckiest people in the world. This will be my second trip to Greece this year! In October I traveled with my husband (a professor at University of Texas) while he did research for a month. I wrote about my travels and took pictures. It was a great experience. You can read about it at my other blog.

So, on June 3rd I will be going to Greece again and this time all the way to Turkey also. I will be keeping a blog with pictures here, so check back!

Malahini means “stranger” or “new-comer”. It is a Hawaiian word. I pretty much always feel that way. It is a very interesting way to live.

About

by jfriesen

In June and July of 2006 I traveled with my husband to Greece and Turkey.  He was participating in an excavation in Corinth and doing archaeological research and I went along to learn all kinds of things and share them in this blog.  Several people participated by reading the blog and commenting.  I hope it is a rich resource of interesting infomation for those who read it.
